awry

a·wry Audio pronunciation of "awry" ( P ) Pronunciation Key (-r)
adv.
  1. In a position that is turned or twisted toward one side; askew.
  2. Away from the correct course; amiss. See Synonyms at amiss.

Sometimes when I’m doing something that requires proper concentration and I mess it up I say “oops see daisy.” I can’t believe my friends still talk to me. I also say awry like “aurie or aw-ree" instead of like “a-rye” like it’s supposed to be pronounced. I had only seen it written and once my skipper sorted me out I still preferred my way so I say it wrong and honestly I would never marry me but I’m shallow and I would never marry a shallow person so I shouldn’t have a problem.

Now that I’ve gotten that out of the way, last night we went out for a team dinner. Turns out most guys had the Friday off for Kanata Day aka Canada Day or as they refer to it in Quebec the week after Fete Nationale aka Moving Day.

We had some good lines and I’ll leave it up to everyone to figure out who said what but if Rachel Lynn Seoul asks I’ll tell her.

His name’s Ovett like Corvette without the muscle

Speaking of the Falkland Islands… Falk You

Ow me shoulder

Hey little green dress F*ck me Dead

************Running down the sideline with my d!ck in my hand

Yeah yeah yeah I’m a Beaconsfield man

F*ck F*ck F*ck, nibble, gobble, chew

I’m a Beaconsfield man who the hell are you!***********

Ow me venereal disease

If he’s not gay then I’m not hetero mate

You’re married to a child!

HeyZeus can’t play rugby ‘cause he’s nailed to the cross

I think that pretty much covers the night. In other news I’m bringing in somebody to do the write up next week. Taking notes while playing is hurting my game so Roger Dodger will be covering for me, I suggest you guys watch what you say during post game interviews he tends to twist words around and get people into trouble. He also likes hitting on people’s girlfriends.

it's getting hot in herr- Nelly

Now that the season has started it’s been a while since I’ve blogged for blogging’s sake. I think Montreal is a good topic. For a long time we were the only North American stop for the F1 Grand Prix now we are one of two and I don’t think as many people care this year because of the world cup.

It’s hot in Montreal these days it’s already been a week or two since I called up friend and told him there are incredibly attractive women everywhere. We have hot women in Montreal the way other cities have fire hydrants or the way New York has yellow cabs or the way Toronto has jerks. The only place I’ve ever seen more women is Quebec City which is just a hop skip and a jump away.

It’s hot in Montreal and everything has taken on a summer pace, I finish work later than most I’d say, and it feels like the middle of the day when I get out. You can take a leisurely walk to the grocery store to pick a few things up before walking home to make dinner or skip it altogether and head downtown. The outdoor terraces are packed everywhere you go and outside the bars you can find odd and lonely groups of people taking their cancer medication.

Last week-end St Laurent street was like an outdoor party and everything was blocked off. They were selling clothes, shoes and food on the sidewalks and I managed to end up with half a burrito all over my leg. It was like trying to watch a child eat a lobster, what a mess I was.

This week-end my favourite deli or sandwich shop is opening late and having a little grand prix party. Last week-end I fell asleep and missed it, this time I’ll try a little harder. The women are coming out of the woodwork. As much as guys want something hot to hang out with for the season the girls I guess want somebody to pic nic with and to try to undo their bathing suit tops.

It’s hot in Montreal and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

BRFC Best the Wanderers

Beaconsfield did well to win in very hot weather this week-end. A sound and efficient game strategy is responsible for our 16-5 win over the Wanderers while a lack of discipline or poor execution kept us from winning the game by a respectable margin.

We began the game like every other playing a tough defence and trying to control the territory. This strategy proved fruitful to the tune of three points slotted through by our very own Scott Gill who played through injury.

At love all, we are a very hard team to play, with a three point lead we are close to unbeatable and we grinded our way to victory. We protected our lead by playing a chess match on a field against opponents who seemed as if they were playing a different sport. They did have some spurts and runs and close breaks it seemed but never a lead. The most frustrating partfor us repeatedly working our way to their 5m line just to be sent back for a penalty.

The forwards absolutely dominated the scrums. Although our backs would appreciate more ball nobody makes a pass they don’t need in rugby and when our ball is in our scrum we know we’re moving forward. On one scrum in particular it seemed as if their entire pack with the exception of their front row broke out and watched us walk the ball forward. We had a pack so strong that their pack just stood and watched as they lost 15 meters on a scrum. The only possible critique would be that we may be able to do better on their put ins and when their pack abandons a scrum the way they did we should be able to either score (although we were almost forty meters out) or at least be awarded a free kick or something, I’m not sure what the law calls for but please feel free to educate me.

Our backs tackled which is all that was asked of them and did so at great possible danger to themselves since a member of the triads on the other team seemed bent on trying to kill certain members of our team. Fil executed well at fly-half and Paul ‘Axe’ Walker also gave us a great half after popping his shoulder on the first play of the game. Dave ‘Beavis’ Lawrence did well having never really practiced in the centers and Cousin Keith’s showed great heart playing with the big boys.

BRFC is Locked Out

June 12th 2006

We played what may have been our best game so far last week. Although we lost by five points I think everyone on the field knew that the same effort and only slightly better execution will help us overcome any opponent we may face later on this season.

The game started well enough, St Lambert scored a penalty but our back row answered back with a play that ended in a try for our illustrious scrumhalf. Beaconsfield battled our way back into Locks territory and our forwards mauled their way to five unconverted points. With an advantage of 12-3 and consistently shutting down their backs’ plays we must have felt like we had St Lambert’s number. And in all honesty I believe we did.

The game ended at 17-22 for the Locks but we made 7-10 points worth of mistakes which we won’t do again. As Gerry Clayton always said while bad ideas are unforgivable bad execution can be fixed.

erratum

The staff at sbrp meant to say 'monogamous' instead of 'celibate'. I'm going monogamous for the season. The staff at sbrp regrets this error.
