We played what may have been our best game so far last week.
Although we lost by five points I think everyone on the field knew that the same effort and only slightly better execution will help us overcome any opponent we may face later on this season.
The game started well enough, St Lambert scored a penalty but our back row answered back with a play that ended in a try for our illustrious scrumhalf. Beaconsfield battled our way back into Locks territory and our forwards mauled their way to five unconverted points. With an advantage of 12-3 and consistently shutting down their backs’ plays we must have felt like we had St Lambert’s number. And in all honesty I believe we did.
The game ended at 17-22 for the Locks but we made 7-10 points worth of mistakes which we won’t do again. As Gerry Clayton always said while bad ideas are unforgivable bad execution can be fixed.
